Sound & AV Systems
Commercial, residential and industrial AV design, installation and DSP setup.
Sound and AV system design and installation across commercial, residential and industrial settings in Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough — bars, venues, retail fit-outs, churches and offices through to home cinema, residential hi-fi and industrial PA/paging systems.
This is the core of hands-on AV trade experience going back to structured cabling, MATV and NILES systems training (Strawberry Sound, 2008), time as co-owner/operator of Av Architects Ltd (2017–2023) across commercial, residential and industrial AV, and time as an AV technician with Ministry of Sound Ltd in London, installing, commissioning and maintaining Crestron control and BSS DSP systems. Ivory Egg KNX installation certification (2017) adds building-automation-integrated control to the mix, so AV and environment control can run from a single system where a site calls for it.
Design, tuning and control
DSP configuration — BSS and similar platforms — is used to properly tune speaker systems to a room, rather than relying on default settings, and control systems (Crestron, KNX, NILES) are specified and commissioned so a system is genuinely easy for the end user to operate day to day, not just impressive on install day.
Every job runs on owned test equipment, with a written job hazard analysis and site induction completed before work starts. New system design and installation, upgrades to existing AV and control systems, and fault-finding on systems installed by others are all within scope — get in touch to talk through a room or a brief.
